JewlArray is a Swiss atelier where every gemstone is chosen by a trained gemmologist. Fabian studied gemmology and travels to origin gem markets, including Chantaburi, Thailand, to select stones in person, without wholesale intermediaries, before hand-setting them in sterling silver.
What does a gemmologist actually check?
Before a stone is offered for sale, it goes through the same kind of scrutiny any trained gemmologist applies on the bench: not marketing language, just what's actually being looked at.
Identity
Whether a stone is natural, treated, or synthetic.
Treatment disclosure
Common treatments (heat, dye, fracture-filling) are noted where present.
Quality
Clarity, cut quality, and colour consistency.
Condition
Overall condition and durability for everyday wear.

Why direct sourcing matters
Buying at origin, in person, means a stone can be examined before it's chosen rather than selected from a supplier's photograph. It also keeps each stone's origin traceable back to the market it came from. That fact gets lost the moment a stone changes hands through several intermediaries.

Why it matters when you're buying online
A gemstone bought online can't be held up to the light before you decide. Having a trained gemmologist assess every stone in person, before it's ever listed, is what stands in for that: a second pair of trained eyes between the market and your order.
Fabian
Fabian trained as a gemmologist in Switzerland and combines that training with hands-on silversmithing. He assesses every stone himself before it becomes part of a finished piece.
He is a Fellow of the Gemmological Association (FGA), a qualification earned at the Gem and Jewellery Institute of Thailand (GIT) in Bangkok.
